Picture a Saturday on the lake. Coffee in a flask, a swim stop in a quiet bay, lunch at a jetty restaurant, home before the evening breeze picks up. That is what a day boat is for, and it is exactly what electric does best.

The choice has grown fast. European yards now build electric day boats for every taste, from slow, elegant launches to carbon rockets that break 50 knots.

We compared the ones sold in Europe on the numbers that matter. These are published figures, not our own tests.

Long-range cruisers: the glassy-water crew

If you like a slow, quiet day and want to go far, displacement and semi-displacement boats are the sweet spot.

The ESEA F800, from a new Dutch-Swedish yard, is rated for 120 nautical miles at 6 knots on a 20 kW pod (float). The Q Yachts Q30 from Helsinki runs about 10 hours at 6 knots (Q Yachts). The Pogo Loxo 32 from France planes at 8 knots and covers 60 nautical miles at that speed (Oceanvolt).

All-rounders: the everyday quiver

The X Shore 1 from Sweden is a 6.5 m day cruiser with a 63 kWh battery, 30 knots top speed and up to 50 nautical miles at 5 knots (X Shore). The De Antonio E23 from Barcelona hides its motor inside the hull and runs 50 nautical miles at 5 knots or 24 at 20 knots (Powerboat & RIB).

The Frauscher 650 Alassio is the classic Alpine lake boat, with more than 300 built and motors from 4.3 to 50 kW (boote). It is a good fit for lakes with power limits.

Fast runabouts: the big wave crew

For speed, electric now competes with petrol, as long as you accept shorter range at full throttle.

  • Riva El-Iseo: 250 kW, 150 kWh, 40 knots, three drive modes (MBY).
  • Axopar AX/E 25: Evoy Storm motor, 126 kWh, up to 50 knots (MBY).
  • Frauscher x Porsche 790 Spectre: 170 kW continuous, 100 kWh, 51 knots (Plugboats).
  • SAY 29E: carbon, up to 360 kW, 51.3 knots recorded on Lake Constance (Pro Boat).
  • Marian M800: up to 150 kW and 125 kWh, 33 knots (boote).

How to choose: read the conditions

  1. Where you boat. Lakes with power limits suit small motors. See electric-only waters.
  2. Your real speed. Range at your cruising speed matters more than top speed. See electric boat range.
  3. Charging. Home jetty, marina or fast charger. See how to charge an electric boat.
  4. Budget. See electric boat prices.

Our verdict: pick your pace

So, which electric day boat is best? For long, quiet days, the ESEA F800, Q30 or Loxo 32. For an all-round day cruiser, the X Shore 1 or De Antonio E23. For Alpine lakes, the Frauscher 650. For speed, the Axopar, Riva or SAY.

Be honest about how fast you really go. That one answer narrows the field more than any spec sheet. Browse every brand in day boats.
