Picture the first time it works. You are kneeling on the board, you ease the throttle, and suddenly the hull lifts and the noise stops. You are flying a metre above the water, with nothing but the hum of a propeller and a ripple behind the mast.

That moment sells eFoils. It also makes them dangerously easy to buy on impulse.

The choice has grown fast. We compared the eFoils sold in Europe in 2026 on the numbers that matter: speed, ride time, board options and price. These are published figures, not our own tests.

The premium set: Lift and Fliteboard

Lift Foils comes from Puerto Rico, where Nick Leason has made hydrofoil surfboards since 2010 and launched the first commercial eFoil in 2018. The LIFT5 runs up to 90 minutes on its 2.2 kWh Full Range battery and cruises around 25 km/h (E-Surfer). Lift also sells a LIFTX for foiling without the motor running.

Fliteboard from Australia, led by founder David Trewern, offers a wide Series 3 range of boards, drives and batteries. Its ULTRA L weighs 22.5 kg complete, which Fliteboard calls the world's lightest performance eFoil (Marine Business World).

The European crew: Awake, Aerofoils, PWR Foil and SiFly

Awake from Sweden makes the VINGA eFoils and RÄVIK jet boards on a shared Flex battery. The VINGA Ultimate is rated at 55 km/h with a 7.8 kg board, and the XR battery is rated for up to 120 minutes (Ritz Marine). The source lists ride times inconsistently, so check with a dealer.

Aerofoils from Germany was founded by a former Audi electric vehicle developer and an aircraft designer, and joined the Rosenxt Group in 2025. Its range runs from the 73 L Competition to the 230 L inflatable Hyperfly (Aerofoils).

PWR Foil comes from Perpignan in France, from the paddleboard maker Redwoodpaddle. It takes off from 5 knots, tops out at 20 knots and runs about 1.5 hours per charge (Boatnews).

SiFly from Bulgaria is the budget European option, with carbon, foam and inflatable boards and 60 to 120 minutes of ride time depending on battery (E-Surfer).

The value end: Waydoo and Jetwave

Waydoo sells the Flyer EVO range at prices well below the premium brands, with the Lite from 4,899 US dollars on its US store (Waydoo). European prices differ.

Jetwave from Shenzhen targets beginners, with inflatable boards, a built-in pump-jet propeller and a learning handlebar. Its Carbon eFoils won an iF Design Award (iF Design).

How to choose: read the conditions

  1. Your weight and level. Beginners need more board volume. See eFoils for beginners.
  2. Ride time. A bigger battery means longer sessions but more weight to carry.
  3. Dealer and service. A local dealer matters when something breaks.
  4. Where you will ride. eFoils are banned in Switzerland and on some lakes. See eFoil rules in Europe.
  5. Budget. See how much does an eFoil cost?

Our verdict: fly the one you can service

So, which eFoil should you buy? Lift and Fliteboard are the safe premium choices. Awake is the strong Scandinavian option with long ride times. SiFly, Waydoo and Jetwave bring the price down.

The real deciding factor is often local: which brand has a dealer near you, and where you can try one first. Book a lesson, ride two brands, then decide. Browse every brand in our eFoils directory.
